    damaged and crudely studded pre-war gas can straps, D to base. frn45 to clasp, 1944 to filter case lid. outer colour over original colour.

            I think that container was painted without straps, such containers comes from czech civil defence and I think that straps, like grey paint are added postwar.

            Any trace of paint on straps?

                ago E. Luft, Eisen u. Metallwarenfabr., Tetschen a/Elbe

                it is czech city, co my opinion is that when war end a lot of those containers left in czech depots,

                most of those containers are very late war.

                    What is the inside of the spare glasses compartment like? does it have the spring clip or does it have the later war bar?

                              Are you sure straps are...czec? I supposed them recycled pre war wehrmacht/reichswehr gas can straps-have another look.
