        Colour could be dark brown, yes. I said black first, because it looked black, but it could be dark brown, with a tight high pitched noise when tapped. So, colour debate to one side perhaps, does it look authentic? Unmarked and undated.

          Do you have it? or are they photo's from the seller?

          The reason for asking is have you tried the "squeeze" test on it? i.e. tried squeezing the lid and container? As you probably know plastic reproductions have a lot more "give" and a very different feedback than wartime Bakelite ones.

          Not sure how much help this will be but thought I would mention it!

            just tried. it wont give an inch to the pinch test. i guess that's a bakalite dish then. ;^) thanks for the simple generosity of your suggestion.
