    New canteen 44 dated?

Picked this one up a few weeks ago. Seems the combinations on late war canteens are endless, but was surprised the bottle is unmarked (even on the neck) and is green with red overpaint. Set looks to have been together a long time (strap wear from being with the taller bakelite cup), and the only marking is the ink stamp near the cap, but I can't make it out. Looks to be 44 dated though? I like the tan straps.

    Ciao Mike, nice canteen
Not "a rare bird", but not easy to find in this combination. The stamp on bakelite cup it's really nice, I have one like this.
Congrats and thanks for share it

      Hello!!
I remember this canteen... very nice....
over the stamp on bakelite cup, noteworthy is the green cap
I have two so a cfl44 while the other is a fwbn44 and has the same marking ink as in your straps
your canteen very likely to be the same manufacturer FWBN44

          I Notis!!
I did not have this impression but I may be wrong
see all items in harmony with the period, if so they did a good job
the straps are a classic brown late-war without roller on the buckle dated 44 and with a nice green cap (seen only on canteens dated 44)
late war cover and red body with green interior this also only seen in bottles of 44 but the world of militaria is big there could be surprises...

I agree, it looks like a genuine been-together-since 1944/45 canteen to me as well

Thanks for the comments, now that I know fwbn44 is the code I can see it on the stamp. I agree the you never know about these late canteens with mixed components, and was hoping it was a type/combination seen before. In hand all of the components appear to be aged together and the strap wear appears consistent. I picked it up at the Houston Gun Show.
