Hi everyone,
I don't know if I posted this in the right category, but I don't know where to place it.
A while ago I bougt these two plates. They appear to be souvenir plates.
The marking on the front reads: ''Niederlande - 1942 - Andenken an die Dienstzeit Groningen''.
The other plate says ''Niederlande - 1942- Andenken aus Groningen''.
Groningen is a city in the Netherlands.
The back of the plates is maker-marked with ''Société Céramique Maestricht''.
In the middle of the plates are photos attached (looks like they were glued and painted over), one showing a German soldier in WW2 Waffenrock, with number 16 on his shoulderboards (16 ID?). The other one is showing a German soldier in WW1 uniform.
I know of the existence of various divisional plates, but haven't seen these kind of plates before.
I also find it strange to see a WW1 picture on a 1942 marked plate.
Are they private purchase? Has anyone seen this type of plate before?
I hope that somebody can help me out.
Kind regards, Bjorn
