    ** ww2 period lantern? **

im sure not all 'made in germany' items are necessarily recent products. and that such legend existed during ww2 and before. on wehrmacht map case clasps, for example. so i ask whether this lantern may date from pre-45? i vaguely associate the wired glass protection system with a tamiya kit box illustration featuring a wehrmacht field kitchen...anyway, it IS german army green. any ideas? thanks very much in advance!

I would say yes as you see them a lot at fleamarkets and antik fairs over here, but like you say comercial marked only. I buy the 'Panzer' maker marked ones when they are cheap and chearfull as a bit of fun.

Pre may 45 Frowo lamps had a "dog"-logo between "FROWO" and " No 420"

Every day is truly a school day,

I have not found reference to the logo but it appears this is a hobby on its own:

              http://home.kpn.nl/olielamp/lamps.htm

I have noted that there are a few of these, as is, on sale from Bulgaria on ebay for stupid money and if Zam is correct they are wrong.

When I say a bit of fun the Panzer one cost me €4, I have seen them for as much as €20 as a start price. I like the one with the bat on the glass but it was too expensive!

thanks for the link, jock. according to this fascinating site for lamp colectors, this thread starter most resembles the Bat model 2850 of Germany, built around 1933. made in thuringa and using kerosene as a fuel. bat logo on glass 'globe' is different in original to this thread starter.
