      That may be so, but by 44 it would be more of an exception than the rule. In other words when did the pressed steel clips start to appear then?

        Where did you get the green bakelite cup from? I sold one to someone in Italy about 2 years ago, but that one was groundfound and not in too good condition.

          Yes of course, is an exception
          When was start? Well dear friend, I have in my collection a canteen 1940 dated with steel clips, but I have also a canteen with steel roller buckle and this one is dated 1938. If we do 1+1......there I would see nothing strange if there were 1938 dated canteens with steel clips

              You already know I'm not asking about exceptions, but the general text book rule, so may I understand that you are trying to say most switched to steel hooks in 1940? It's a lot earlier still than I expected, but thanks for the clarification.
