Tripod for holding optics.
I bought this from German Ebay just for fun. Only 7 Euro.
The seller claim it comes from Normandie, Omaha beach and a bunker there. I do not doubt that. Its full of sand between every joint, washer and bolt. Even the fibers in the wood is full of sand. Several parts is bent or buckled. It shows clear signs of violence.
Question: Germany used many foreign types of equipment, but who made the item ?
It has the text "MOUNT OPTICS" and "M48" engraved in the brass. Lots of serials/part numbers all over it. Item is mostly made of brass and very solid and heavy.
I will clean it and remove the wood, as the wood is in very bad shape.
Any clues ?
