Soldat, I'm quite certain that that magazine pouch wasn't made for MP38/40 magazines, but drawn from pre-Anschluss stocks. It was made to hold magazines for some other weapon -- probably the Steyr-Solothurn S-100.
The Germans did this whenever possible -- pressing enemy or obsolete equipment where appropriate for or as their own weapons, in this case using this ammo pouch to hold MP mags.
        Cheers,
        Jeremy

Could you post some close-ups of the markings? I have seen this pouch-model several times, but then only with "Stolla Wien" inside a circle, and I have always thought they were post-war made for the MP40 for Austrian post-war service. If it is 1940 dated it was obviously not made pre-anschluss (1938). K98k and MP40 slings also exists with the "Stolla Wien" circle mark, but appears to be clearly post-war.

sorry for late post, this is not my pouch and i cannot suppy close up but this is the information, hope this helps a bit
Stolla Wein is in a circle but also with a 40 in the middle between Stolla and Wien
It also has a clear ink stamp under the lid with a clear 1940 stamp , but it also has a waffen eagle stamp on the outside which also indicates WW2
