Tragegurt 34 Ammunition can Carrying strap

Here is my recent purchase, a Tragegurt 34 MG34/42 Ammunition can carrying harness. Used to carry individual ammo cans that are clipped on to each end of a can, or by carrying two cans at a time, by mounting each clip to the middle of the top carrying handle on each can. Its in really nice condition looks unused, most likely a well made copy, but it smells very old and has odd bits of rust on the metal parts, each clip is marked with the Maker logo SC, i think its maybe a tropical issue one? - what is bonus about it is i bought it as it was advertised as a Mortar carrying sling, and only cost me £20

IMO it is repro strap using original metal parts.

I did not buy it from that site at all but a site in the uk., if you read my description it was advertised and sold as a mortar sling and it only cost me £20, I never claimed it to be original, but most likeley a well made copy!! i am not concerned over £20. whats wrong with people.

Did you miss reading that part or something?? HENCE YES I BELEIVE ITS MOST LIKELY A WELL MADE COPY/REPRO/FAKE WHATEVER YOU WANT TO CALL IT.Seriously whats the issue it was £20 and please tell me why you think i bought it from SV Militaria???, never had any dealings with them at all????? but also how do you know its a fake??? I aint been funny but if you would have just been civil on your original post i wouldnt have bit back, wouldnt have hurt to say, "yes sorry its a fake, seen these on a site etc etc".

yes, its surprisingly really well made,good stiching, heavy duty canvas, well its ok for my static collection i guess, as soon as i saw it i recognised it, i thought for 20 quid even if it a copy still cheap as hehe, i found a original one on ebay now, what do you think to it, not paying that price tho ha:

for further opinions then, do we think the metal hardware is original (with it having the sc markings?), with the rest reproduced? im not fussed either way

have seen a few of these straps, always put off by the brass eyelet around the belt hook, I get the feeling postwar, like you said 20 is 20

anyway the ebay one is I believe original, no eyelet around the hook (same as one I own) and dark canvas, field grey/late war dark blue fittings, wouldnt say the price is too bad considering you dont see them all the time

oh just found a pic, I forget if the hooks are marked

sorry to bring this old thread up, but i find this ebay seller a real piece of work, the seller is using my pictures (last two images) showing my strap and ammo cans for his listing, i am going to contact the seller:

Hi,
What you have there is a Tragegurt that was part of the equipment that came back to the UK from Potugal in the 1980's along with the 1,000 MG34's in their crates etc.
The tell-tale signs are the black fittings with no WaA - Wehrmacht examples have a darker green webbing and grey/green hooks with a WaA.
The latter are a lot of money nowadays - for £20.00 you did very well indeed!
If there is any doubt of this statement the Laufschuetzers from this contract also have black fittings and a rather strange shade of webbing.
I've still got a Portuguese Laufschuetzer that I'd like to replace with a Wehrmacht-issue item but my Portu strap in the photos went back to my pal who bought it from Ryton's when the 1980's hoard arrived.
I managed to get a nice Wehrmacht example from Bergflak but I didn't get it for £20!

Grossfuss beat me to the punch. He is right. Yours is a Portugese example. I've got one I picked up as a filler until I find an original to replace it. It was made for combat, so it is well made, not a run of the mill repro example.

You got a good deal because I sure wouldn't sell mine for £20!
