pity RVS is not there but r.v could be rechts vorbei and S could be sammelplatz or collecting area

two bars in German tactical symbols could be horse drawn transport

Here is my Pionierstrasse Street Sign, it is heavy steel, enameled and concave. I love this sign.

I was told by the seller it came from the facility at Karlsruhe/Neureut, from 1936-45 it was known as the Rhein Kaserne.

The tactical sign on the first one with R v. S is the sign of the Stab (staff) of a Regiment. On this road sign it's sadly not stated which Regiment. This would also clear the R and S. Don't know about the small v, but I will search some more in my documents.

In the area in 1944 it was 343 ID...
could it be a Pionner bataillon???...because the name of the commander of the Pionner bataillon was Hauptmann Ritter von Straub....

My first thought is that it's not a coincidence that the tactical sign has got something to do with Regiment Stab. I think it's rather a coincidence the best man was named Ritter von Straub (R. v. S.). I think it doesn't make sense to abbrevate a personal name. They would write his full name. Only the familiar terms (like "Regiment" (R), "Kommando" (Kdo) or "Heer(esgruppe)" (H)) were abbrevated.

Very, very nice collection by the way. Personally I adore this unique material which is related to a specific location.
