Just wanted to show my Medical Tornister.... I've been looking a long time for a nice one... (these are expensive these days )

I'm very happy with this one.... thanks Marcin

Nice dny 1944 one.....

I'm only missing the small hook on the back so if anyone has a spare (pref. brown leather with a steel (grey) hook)

Nice to see additional pictures Tom, thanks for that.

Looks like 2 sorts of thread has been used to stitch the red cross. It's interesting to note different ways of stitching the rc on these tornisters!

Fantastic Tornister Tom, but then I wouldn't expect anything less!

Am I mistaken but is the interior material made using the same material as you see on MP44 pouches?

I always thought this was the 3 letter code for the 'Bollmann' company (Karl Bollmann & co out of Tuttlingen)? One of larger makers of leather equipement, but mainly medical related as we all know.

They used both DNY code and several variations on their full company-name througout the war.

I've noted full text on Bollman's markings also at items made in 1943 and "dny" on stuff amde as early as 1941. That makes no sense. I'm not telling that You are wrong. These are just facts available now.

Same story with "cny" common for late war stuff, most of Collectors know them form G43 pouches with 1944 and 1945 date but earliest items marked with 'cny" company's code are very early (as for three letters code): 1941. Most of makers used to stamp full name and location then.

This information was obtained from another EU collector. He refers to the period manual : "Liste der Fertigungskennzeichen für Waffen,Munition und Gerät".This contact stated that 'dny' is mentioned in this manual as being the Bollmann company.

Can't add much more. If someone knows this manual, it would be nice to check it out and confirm this.


On a side-note it does make sence in a way:

If you take for example maker 'BLA'. This code correspond with maker E.G. LEUNER GMBH out of Bautzen.
I have a verbandtasche with 3 digit code BLA dated 1940 and a 1943 medic tornister with full name of this maker. Just to show that both ways of ID were used throughout war.

However, it is my opinion that from late 44 onwards mostly 3 letter codes were applied - only talking about medical epuipement here. (allied troops were able to attack factories all over Germany by then).

Below list is known by most. I don't seem to find DNY though.
