Entrenching tool question

I'm vaguely familiar with the entrenching shovel marked REX. I can’t tell for sure if the marking on this E-stand shovel a poorly struck or a peened down marking. Thanks

I think its a good shovel, markings are ugly made.. but it looks all right to me

Just looking to see if the mfg. markings are real, or just deformed from use. Could it have been hammered out?
