    Camo Gas Mask Carry Cannisters

How rare are camo'd gas mask carry cannisters? I picked a named one up today, it was kind of expensive but it looked too sweet not to own and I had never seen one offered before. Anyone have any that they can post pictures of? If anyone is interested, I could post some shots of mine. Opinions on rarity would be appreciated as well.

Justin, they are rare but you can find them in almost every camo pattern from tropical to tri-color western front. Usually expensive when found. Bill Shea has two on his site right now. Check them out under field equipment.

      Hi Justin,
last night I was reading an article which appeared last year on France's Militaria Magazine(it's now getting a serious magazine full of professionally-written articles on WW2 German Uniforms and Equipments after having shot its reputation promoting HSC's FAKES in many an issue!)concerning WH gas masks, and Mssr.Borg and Huart rightly pointed out that "....so many camoed gas mask cannisters have surfaced recently-their finish ranging from fresh smelly paint to professionally executed artificial ageing-to lead to think that a good half of the German Army camoed the cans, which thing is way far from being the truth!".
As with camo helmets, kochgeschirren and stuff you've got to be VERY CAREFUL when approaching such an item;yes, many "Afrikanern"painted their cans yellow, but even more left it like that!
I've taken a close look at the cans offered by the Ruptured Duck and I must say that I don't like them at all, especially the second one,but that's only my opinion and as one of our friends wrote in his signature;"Collectors of the World unite...you don't have anything to lose but your money!"
      My zwei Reichs Pfennig

There are a number of fakes being distrubuted by dealers in the USA (and Im sure in Europe as well). It is very hard to tell the real ones from the fakes, these guys have a university diploma in rusting items to make them old. They age them to simulate wear then repaint them camo and then age them again and sell them as real. I saved a friend of mine from some of these earlier this year.

                            Hello fellows,

I´ve got a nice tri colour gasmask canister this week. The colours are Tan base and oversprayed with a dark red or brown and Green. I have seen this camo combination on Normandy helmets, so i think its western Front for sure.
Unfortunality one Person cut the flaps away. But i cames with the original rubber Gasmask inside. Both dateted 44.

The colours look odd in my pics, but in original its a wonderful item. And for under 5 €.

Can somebody post Pics for me.

                            Thanks Jens
