Felt Boots value

Hi, I was making my rounds today and ran across a nice pair of winter felt topped combat boots...the type w/ the leather lowers and the buckle strap at the top. A local gun dealer who gets walk in items had them for $60. They are all original and in nice, but obviously used condition. The were dated 1943. All original soles, heels etc. What do these go for normally?

I was offered boots like that too... and I wonder how much up I can go...
they have lather discs, 44 marked... - nice condition...
how much I can pay ?? seller is asking around $250 - is it worth it at all ???....

Michael, that's too much. A good set, with the discs on them will bring maybe $125. Tops $150 to the right buyer. I'd consider them a good deal in the $100 range. Just not too desired.

Jack, if by discs you mean the metal plates on the toes, yes they were there. The soles were marked Continental and were original I'm sure. Someone probably sent these back to hunt with. I may swing back around and pick them up today! I had never handled a pair like this before.

Andy, they were rubber soled? Although these did get turned out with rubber soles, it's fairly uncommon. By discs, I mean what literally looks like a dowel pin cut up and then attached to the bottom. Since metal hobnails would radiate the cold to the interior of the boot, the Germans compromised by attaching wooden discs to the bottom of the boots to give them traction.

Jack, yes the soles reminded me of flight boots, with small horse shoe shaped steel plates at the toe. No hob nails or dowels. In fact, I first thought these were some kind of insulated aircrew boot...they just seemed like Luftwaffe items when I first handled them.

Beware of postwar.., Bundeswehr used these boots too..

These were wartime, but probably resoled at some point. I don't plan on buying them, it was just interesting to learn about them...

Jos, I've not seen a pair of the BW boots that compare in construction to the wartime versions. Construction is quite different from what I've seen. Do you have a photo of what you are referring to that I might look at in order to remember what to expect in the BW boots? Thanks.

Andy, I seriously doubt they've been resoled. I'd say those are good boots. Continental soles are not uncommonly found on those boots with rubber soles. Manny, where ya at?

The boots whose pictures I'm posting were made by "Rieker",i.e. the "Springfield Armory" of German footwear!They're (like,pass the paper bag please,I'm about to thr.......")"Textbook" and that's how a genuine pair of 233232%"Kommis" Filzstiefeln should look like!Of course, there were many types and models, all WH-issue, but these are the one I like most and guess what...they(not only this pair of course!)were used during the 1944/45 winter in Italy as well, not only on the Ostfront then!Please notice how extensive has been the use of scrap leather(see the ink stamping on the vamp's lower side?)with these ones!

P.S.;I don't mind finding boots with "Continental"rubber soles...problem is that they(the soles)are still made today....can you tell Buna from real rubber?
