First: LEARN Second: LEARN Third: LEARN

If you doesn't understand that something from II WW could NEVER been used ( or was used for very short period ) than stop collecting german ( or any other ) cause everytime you will asking such silly questions you are making right now.

I understand that many people thinks that way ' oh if the item was made 70 years ago than it can't looks so good, so it must be a fake!' but this WRONG thinking ! At least half of them manufactured items was in storehouses/magazines and never seen battlefiled and many of those which survived the war in untouched condition seen use in postwar period ( and i think most of the USED items on the market was used postwar by scouts or civilians ).

Sorry if im statement is rude but this the the best way to motivate you to do something and start to learn.

EVERYTHING in this canteen is 'TEXTBOOK' . This is mint condition canteen and that's ALL. Straps are exacly as they should be in early war canteen( plain leather; brown or black ).

I know, I know maybe he really want to learn but I have a bite diffrent impresion as I know that guy from polish militaria forums.

The same guy is asking for the same things on polish forum from few year back so my impression is that he doesn't want to learn or he lernt nothing ( I noticed that some part of new, young collectors really doesn't want to learn and would rather go with easy way and ask everytime for each item , even if the item is exacly the same or very similiar with other asked before ).

When I start collecting didn't know nothing or know very less, but each item I bought or had in hand learnt me alot ( mistakes learnt tne most ).

I hope he finally learn and will need no help with 'basic' items.

Well we keep on learning but fakers also, so it makes it difficult sometimes. I've been collecting for at least 35 years and I learn something new every day, but I try not to be so rough and help others with what I have learnt (Marcin included).

                              Genosse,
The best method is do some research, read, look at lots pictures and handle examples, then ask... sadly some just ask.... it saves them " Making their bones" as some here have.
When you begin doing this nonsense you have to get a feel for material, construction...cut... smell even... (I know some will be nodding there..) then you ask questions in person, by letter or over the phone, to tie up any points you are unclear on... before the Net, this is how we rolled..... it still has strengths, this form fails to teach unless you explain it in a way they either shape up or ship out.
Its not being nasty, just how you learn how to do stuff on a Building Site, you don't forget it then.
