Strange Presstoff Carrier

Hello All,
Some help with this one please. I thought a complete fake at first, but not sure now (don't worry I didn't pay $700 for it)! There are some really obvious NOT German things about this carrier; the pattern is different (no bottom cross bar on the front, tapered sides, rivets, and WEBBING loops). I've never seen anything like it. Could be a complete fake, but why would one go to all that trouble and make those really obvious changes? (I know...to fool guys like me into buying it)! It is stamped on the rear in very non-German all caps YCW 44, and unknown late war type code. Any opinions?

I second what Tom said. 100% rubbish made up from some original parts. They are getting better at it boys.

I'm inclined to agree. The fake aging process is getting better....and using what looks like original parts.
