Last find: Scherenfernrohr metal box, empty?!

Do some one have any idea, why this box is empty? And is in metall, normaly in wood?!?!

The own I own is early war. the box as the fittings inside are made of wood, the straps of leather .

That is easy to answer: it is empty because it was used as a case or back-pack after the war. You can find them in three makings, wood (early), leather (cavalry) and metal (late).

Hello,

Metal boxes can be found from time to time but it is rare to find them complete. It is more difficult to find leather and wooden cases.
