    Help with a k98 cleaning kit.

    Hello Gents,

    I have a question. I like to know what should be in a K98 cleaning kit for cleaning.

    Was it a standard filt with the same items or not? As the war go's on did that
    change the content of the kit?

    Thanks in advanced.
    Mike

    for your first question answer is yes - content was standard filt - all cleaning kits for K98k was with the same content ( chain, 2 brushes, oiler , spoon ).

    For your second question answer is no - content didn't changed - it was the same for all wartime period.

    Only thing that changed was material which was used to made oiler , chain and brushes and color of cleaning box ;
    - pre war , early war oiler was made from steel, mid and late war it was made from bakelit , in very late stage of war it was thin steel

    -pre war and war brushes were made of natural fibers, in mid and late war it was made of syntetic fibers

    - pre war and early war chaines were made of aluminium , mid war were made from zinc alloy, in late war were made of steel

    - pre war and early war color of cleaning box were painted in appel green , early and mid war were in blue-grey painted and in late war were painted tan

    Here you have site with nice comparision of cleaning kits :

      Dont forget the last model of "chain", wich was only a string.
