    Weird Brotbeutel

    Hi everyone! This strangely constructed brotbeutel came in the mail today with some other items. It’s quite small, see the normal Heer breadbag behind is, and there are no buttons on it, but rivets. It also has an extra pocket on the interior (on the inside, not a k98 cleaning kit pocket directly under the flap). D-rings, belt loops, etc. weren ever present. I’m not sure what the carrying strap is made of. Some web rucksack material perhaps? It’s the only part that is clearly not factory constructed. I suspect it is a postwar convertion to a girls bag or something, but I’m fare from sure. Any opinions?

    It inner support strap for an M36 tunic.

      Thanks! Very interesting. Do you mean the part where the belt hooks were fitted in? I didn't mean that the strap was not factory constructed, but factory attached to the bag, my fault. If it's a uniform part it could be a period item than..

          Possibly started off as Wehrmacht issue, then cut down, reworked and modified for civilian use with the addition of the tunic support strap.

            Yes, it looks like it is a post war modification for as you mentioned yourself maybe a girls bag or something civilian.
            There is a nice tunic support strap on it, these aren't that easy.

                I bought the same bag for a few bucks in La Gleize, but without the strap...
