      My fellow collectors ,

As I wrote before in my other thread I do not have proof for
      my findings......

The MN code for example could be the maker's mark for the firm of
      Max Müller Nürnberg .
Müller was a very early maker of field equipment and might have started
producing before the Wehrmacht Beschaffungs Amt worked out the standards
of marking the canteens and messkits with the three letter code.

Müller therefore might have used his Telegram adress wich simply was
      Müller Nürnberg.

On the other hand I would like to ask if anyone of you have a canteen or messkit
      marked with MMN ?

The way of marking equipment is an entirely interresting topic because of the different standards that were set by the Wehrmacht procurements offices.

For example early gasmask cans have a great variety of markings ranging from full name of the maker such as John AG , to Symbols like a Volcano and very often
an arrangement of letters in a triangle.....

Another very interresting order for marking the products seems to be the Sirene used by the WH.
Maker wrote their name in capital letters into an oval stamp like JURK.....

You see that with many different standards it might be that Müller stamped with
just MN and not with MMN.

Here a part of a catalogue of Müller from the early days.

      Regards

      Bernhard

WOW Bernhard, this is the first time that I see a complete m31 Feldflasche on a catologue, really really interesting.
                    Thanks for post it

Thanks for showing this. Finally something that gives a concrete indication why Müller in Nürnberg is seen as a possible maker behind the abbreviation MN.

I don`t think MN is Müller Nürnberg, i know some canteens with both stamps, "Menesa" and "MN", and a lot of "MN" mess kits were found in Saarland, near the Menesa factory!

                        Regards
                        Dirk

                          Very interresting !
Could very well be that MN is not what I thought to be.
I would love to see a picture of a double marked Menesa / MN canteen.

                          Best regards

Ciao Dirk, remeber to post one example of these canteens, please
My last thought is that exist two different producer, so MN is Müller Nürnberg and Menesa is Metallwerke Neheim Saar.
                              Could be?
