          As far as German militaria WW2 is concern I have never seen one like that.
          If is post war or German or not I dont know,what I know is that german soldiers used other types of tin openers.One of them is close to the one you ve posted in machinery.But not for me

              Could be a personal soldier's item? I know they used a lot of Solingen stuff. Razorblades for instance... Could be war time for sure. Check out some collectable books you'll probably find can openers in there.

                It's not a military item if it is what you are asking, ie : it's a civilian item.
                Do soldiers use civilian items ? yep of course.

                Now is it period ?
                Well you can start by telling us exactly every single markings there are on it , cos believe it or not there are no pre-war and a post war can opener Mdls...
