    MN45 Messtins

    Hi,
I've been looking for an MN45 Messtin with the inner plate for quite a while.
I finally took the plunge and bought the lot below - probably been viewed a few times by other members - the intention being to keep just one.
A friend is in line for another so there are three potentially looking for new owners.
I'm looking to recover my outlay or exchange for other 45-dated field equipment, a truly minty 45-dated SMM Feldflasche would be welcome. I've been looking for a sealed, mint, unopened "Wehrmacht Packung" Scho-ka-kola for years.
I accept that in some eyes it will be heresy to split them so before pouring fire and brimstone upon me - anybody got a better plan?
Meanwhile, here's a step back 66 years when the string was first tied.
    Good hunting,
    Grossfuss

Yep, that's the big question.... ARE the inserts present...

Although I also think it's a shame to break this lot up, I can understand your decision

                  I'm glad I have one

                    Hi Guys,
                    Many thanks for your interest.
I was hoping for an influx of "SMM45" canteens and Scho-ka-kola but so far only enquiries to buy (all of which will be treated in the order they contacted me).
I'm not complaining - the satisfaction of my need has released 4 others into collections - no bad thing!
Just in case a rich collector wanted the set complete and offered to fill the blanks in my collection I have not undone the string.
HOWEVER - by careful manoeuvring of the string round one of the end tins I was able to lift the lid and can confirm the inner plate is there ("phew"!)
The string is still there (for now).
Thanks again for your comments and best regards to all,
                    Grossfuss

..It remembers me to a find from myself 3 Years ago. I bought some mint HRE Messkits and Canteens directly from the Son of a former HRE Worker in Esslingen..

...quite a campfire of brotherly love going on here! nice to see loaves and fishes being fairly distributed...superb haul. congrats. question-were these late war messtins and inner plate sets always maker/date stamped? or are there unmarked wartime ones around too? many thanks in advance.

glad to hear that the plate is inside, they are a cracking lot, too bad you didnt get yet what you are after,

you know what else is interesting, is the different shade of paint on the one on the right, or is it just my computer?

wondered if the string was for sale too

                              cheers
