    45 dated field gear

    Hello again,
I haven't the book to hand but I also wondered about "epf" but they also look like heavy engineering!
    Regards,
    Grossfuss
The maker's code is positioned similarly to the "fuq 1945" posted earlier.

            45 dated field gear

            Hi,
Wonderful pair of canteens - would love one in that condition!
I think you'll find it's "SMM 45" I have one not as good as this. When I got mine I wasn't sure about the felt 4-popper cover, expecting a thinner 3-stud type. However there have been other "SMM 45" canteens shown which also have covers similar to the two beauties above!
Funny old hobby - but fascinating, all the various permutations of equipment!
            Best regards,
            Grossfuss

              Here's one from my collection.

It came with a bunch of 44' dated bandages. It was a nice suprise as I don't search specific for 45 dated kit.

It has been produced by the same company,"Hartmann", as the one posted by John on page 3.

Great stuff and thread guys, keep it running!

              Regards

If so late why on earth are they not riveted ?

if something is riveted it doesn't mean it is late war. Germans had start riveted ammo pouches since 1942. Those particular ammo pouches have almost no metal parts - the only metal parts are studs for closing straps - it make sense to me in 1945 when shortages in supplies were something normal ( and most industry was destroyed by bombardings - the only untouched region was Protectorat of Czech and Moravia which has held by Germans till the end my 1945 and still producting for german army ).

See already this type of ammo pouches see no problems - 100% original pouches.
