1944 Mess kit :Trench art of a german POW

I found this mess kit today and although I am not into equipment anymore, I thought it would have been a pity to leave it behind.
It has been nicely engraved by the soldier, missing home. The kit is dated 1944
Considering the location and the subject, I think it could be very likely a gebirgsjäger

You know, I really enjoyed looking at this and I wrote down all the words I could see, but this is an historical artifact that tells 2 story's, VERY NICE.
A keeper for sure.
