    New brotbeutel, very weird!

I just won this on ebay, I think $25 was a good price.

I bid on it a couple of days ago but just now realized the tabs are not the regular triangular tipped kind but slanted and straight! The original bag seems to be the m31 model but the center strap looks like the late war kind. Tell me what you guys think.

Forgot to post that. The seller said it was replaced because of damage. The bag looks post war or the replacement?

If it is in fact a post war brotbeutel, I've been needing a new breadbag for reenacting.

I did not know that they made bags post war without the inside divider. Oh well, lesson learned. Was not burned too bad. Thank you both for your replies.

              IMHO bag is ok

right belt loop looks original to the bag to me, only middle and left loop are replaced....

btw, the belt loops being straight is just a variation....

Are there signs of a removed devider inside ??

I do not yet have it, but as far as I can tell it does not look like there was a divider cut out. Is this just some sort of late war Frankenstein piece?

here it is guys. I think it's real like Tom said. It has no evidence of any inside divider being torn out and the buttons look good too. The new strap looks original IMO.

I think your right...after further looking, it does look like a late war refurbished one, sent back out on the lines...and if that is the case you did well with your price.

I agree with Tom, apparently an original bag that has been fairly extensively reworked at some point.

Thank you guys. It will stay in my collection! And just one more question, would you guys say this is a 1943-45 mfg/ rework?

I would guess around late 1944-early 1945, to equip a member of a Volksgrenadierdivision. Perfect for a Ardennes 44 or Hürtgenwald 44-45 display (for example).
                            Nice catch for that price.

                              Hi Sam

                              Nice catch.....

Difficult to say when this was done.... the middle loop is like the M44 breadbag, but I don't understan dis why they didn't sew the outer loops fixed to the breadbag, because it is impossible to remove the breadbag from the belt anyway when using the middle loop...

So this could be done anywhere between 1944 and now I guess.... Unfortunately no way of being sure...

Does the sewing glow in the Dark when using an ultraviolet lamp ??
