Mayer si soldiers name , R.Z.f.H is quite popular maker of equipment , 1943 is date , XII - have no idea . but is a bite strange that it is marked like this cause backpack is marked with maker on the back with pre war date.Comment

totally agree with anmarlodz. I also have seen this '43 maker mark on trop equipment straps but also do think its weird to have it marked in this location. never saw that before from any maker or date. very interesting... GlennComment

not to be a jack but I always wondered about the trop equipment straps I spoke of. this may be a bogus mark altogether. Im not quite sure. lets see what others say. Glenn

in this case its very strange though - as pack is already marked for 1936 (or is it an 8 ) year of production... weirdComment

RZfH isn`t/ wasn`t a maker, you can find on different items, back packs, belts, ammo pouches aso, mostly with a makers mark. I didn`t found out yet what is was, but it could be some kind of RZM, maybe "Reichszeugmeisterei für das Heer" or something.
This one is from RzFh 23, i know also 7, 15, 20 and 22.

My fellow collectors
I have a helmet chinstrap that has the same mark as the tornister
that was shown here at the beginning of the thread.
After playing around with my code book I think that I know the organisation that stands behind the marking R.Z.f.H
I very good reason that we have to do with the :
Reichszentrale für Handwerkslieferungen
an organisation synchronizing and organizing not the industry but small
firms of craftsmen.
It seems that the Zentrale was split up in severl different "Gebiete"
that are indicated by the numbers we find on surviving equipment.
The R.Z.f.H also had a three letter code : "fcn" and a number code
"992"
First pic is from the net showing a very interresting combination of a
maker code and the R.F.z.H stamp.
Very unusual is that the three letter maker´s code starts with an upper case "H" and is followed by two lower case letters "o" and "y" creating
what I think should mean "hoy".
The result of what we get by looking up the maker makes perfectly sense : "hoy" = Landeslieferungsgenossenschaft Bayern für das Tapezierer und Sattler-Handwerk im Wirtschaftsgebiet XII , München

My helmet strap is stamped with "19" instead "14" as seen at the tornister.
A theory comes to my mind when we think about the fact of a pre war
dated tornister being again stamped in 1943 by the R.Z.f.H could be the fact that it was repaired by some craftsmen and the distributed again by the Reichszentrale.
From what I have found out the RZfH was not an organisation of the industry but quite contrary of the Handwerk (craftsmen) in that time .
