Do these books actually cover specific food items as far as different products,product names, packaging, etc or is it basically a nutritional guide with food authorizations etc.

Does it provide instructions to industries on how items were to be packed marked etc.

You are quite correct in saying it is a nutritional guide with no mention of the actual products themselves.

As for packaging, I will have to sit down and spend a few hours going through it. At first glance it looks very promising.

Any help in determining the meaning of "DIN Packung" or DINs in general would be greatly appreciated. Regards Jim

No information about the DIN Packung stuff yet, however I now present todays find.

A nice Haeberlein Metzger Bauerntruhe (Farmer chest.) It originally cost RM 4 and I paid less then that today

This tin can be seen in Jim Pools Rations book Vol 2 page 185.

Todays find, once again a nice Haeberlein Metzger Silbertruhe (Silver chest.) It originally cost RM 6 and I paid about the same today.
It is the companion chest to the Farmers tin found a few days ago. Both tins are the same size.

Hi Kat,

Glad to see the catalogue pages in the book are of use. I passed up on so many food items when I was stationed in Germany because of the problem trying to date items. A wartime catalogue would have helped. Jim
