One tell tale sign of NON german boots is when the sole is made of one piece. Textbook german Schnurschuhe/knobelbecher all have 2 piece soles. This is done to make the resoling easier..

Boots in post 2 are the boots to go for IMHO.

Boots in post 3, Not my choice, could be czech..

The heel iron's do not matter in this cause, I owned another pair of Schnurschuhe with the heel irons you pronounce are "Czech"

I allso own a pair of Jackboots wich have the same feature!

A bold nose of the shoe is allso a late-war feature. See this latewar pair of boots, with synthetic halfsoles, bold nose and what you think about the "Czech" heels..

Another interesting thing. I've found this original box wich once belonged to the "Kompanie Schuster" or "Company cobbler". He used to repair the boots of a whole company. The box is just what it was, I did not add stuff to it. Maybe this could be a good reference of what they used and did NOT use. I only found 1 off the "textbook" heels in here, and lots and lots of different hobnails, at least 10 different kinds.

Maybe we should make a topic about GOOD and BAD boots, with good reference pics, and reference material like my "kompanie schuster"box.

        Kind Regards,

        Erik

Sorry to bring this thread back up, but I think this is important. In the case of boots only having the 2 separate pieces of leather on the soles, consider these pre war boots used by the Germans. Notice how the soles are only one piece of leather.

If we follow logic, that would quite possibly mean that the basis for these boots came from existing low boots with one piece of leather on the bottom.

            Thoughts?
