I just purchased this medics leather pouch. Is it by the style and stamp WWII or WWI period? Thanks!

Stamped "Deutsches Rotes Kreuz", "Sanitäts******?", "Markt-Wilhermsdorf" and "5". No swastika visible but was this type of stamp WWI or WWII period because of the eagle?Attached Files

Hello Jens,
I'm 100 % sure that this is a DRK-first aid pouch as used during the Third Reich period. The missing part of the stamp probably says : sanitätskolonne Markt-Wilhermsdorf.
I'm also sure that there was once a swas underneath the eagle, as it looks like a typical 'third reich eagle' to me and not a 'weimar eagle'...it is definatly the DRK-symbol.
These mostly came in brown leather, with an additional caryingstrap, but black existed as well. I there any setup to attach straps?
So it's not an issue wehrmacht sanitäter item, but a paramiltary item as used by the Deutsches Rotes Kreutz during the 3th Reich.
Hope this helps so far?
Cheers

Many thanks Jan! I suspected this also but wasn't 100% sure. Does it make sense to fill this pouch with Wehrmacht first aid items? I think the loop in the inner side was for a pair of scissors because you can still see some traces from it.

DRK Sanitater Pouch
Hi Jens,
I have two of exactly the same DRK pouches but in brown leather. Normally these pouches wouldn't be filled with Wehrmacht issue items since DRK had their own medical supply sources. Better to buy Wehrmacht Sani pouch and fill it with proper issue items. Heer issued items. Bill Petz
