    Rucksack ?

Hiya Guys, Im after opinions of this pack ..... I was given it a while back by a friend, Not my area of collecting but interesting all the same....Is it German ? I have had a good look over it and have found no markings that indicate to me its origins ...so I figure I had better ask the chaps in the know for opinions

It reminds me of pictures I have seen of WW2 German rucksacks and has the same kind of hooks etc but I know that others like the Czech's used similar systems ?

This is the only stamp I have found on it other than single numbers on the leather parts...

    Any opinions guys ?
    cheers
    Tim

I have a East German ruck that is nearly identical except yours has the leather trim around the edges. It is German I am pretty sure but without a waffenamt or RBN I would think it is East German.

100% post war, early east-German. I have several of them, they come in different colours and slightly different variations. On the early ones you sometimes find metal hardware from WW2.
They are used as Wehrmacht-Rucksacks in several German war movies, e.g. "Der Untergang"

using the wrong kit in a film like the untergang...yes, i noticed that too. they went the whole way and put the wrong kit on a prime character, the escaping secretary. 'yes, we've spent this much, let's give her a post war backpack'.warfilm makers need to spend as much on authenticity as they do thinking about how 'well' they are going to make the movie.
unforgivable slapdash approach imo. wrecks the watching. nice rucksack, btw.

Sure thing, but it takes a "detail nazi", too to recognize... as we all are!

Sorry for the slow reply but the RBnr is almost like a manufacturers item code if I am correct. Somewhat like a bar-code is today on the side of a item. Someone else can probably elaborate on this more clearly. I may be way off but it seems that the RZM is for Nazi Party items and the Luftwaffe had yet another code for their items acceptance. I never really gave this much thought so I hope someone with more knowledge chimes in to clarify it better.
