I really apreciate your comments and your point of view,
Since I am a new collector, mabye you can point out exactly what is wrong with the pouches? For example the stiching or leather or anything else,
Thank you John, Bergflak, and Kuligow
Please let me know whats the problem with them, so I can keep an open mind on the next pair when and if they show up.
Michael
As mentioned by Bergflak, the leather is wrong. Leather on original pairs can vary, so to try to describe the differences would likely confuse you more. You need to study many original pairs and you will begin to understand. I suggest you do a search on the Forum and study some of the authentic pairs posted to begin with. But to really learn, you need to handle real ones........Go to shows, ask for help from friends that already know.
Regards,

What is wrong (and what is right!)
As pointed out it is very difficult to pinpoint the details, that's just something you see straight away when you have handled original ones and compared them to the copies.
As a basic rule the pouches are either stamped in ink or on the belt loops, but the ink may be very weak and hard to spot. Ink is normally white on bluegray pouches and black on lighter shaded ones. Don't know if the green ones had ink-stamps, as my pair has the markings embossed on the belt loops. The ink normally consists of three elements (but I have hardly never seen all three elements at once). MP 38 u. 40 across the top (normally), square WaA stamp (lower left) and three-letter code above two-digit year. The fakers prefer to stamp the belt loops, probably because the faded look of the ink-stamps are hard to aquire. But when that is said, my favourit pair has only got the markings on the belt loops.
Take a look at these three links to original pouches.

The copies in this thread were manufactured by the Czech film-industry.
Beautiful set of pouches, Adrian!

I agree with all points, including how it is an overall feeling, and not always easy to articulate exactly each and every point that is wrong. When I first saw them on a display in the FJ section, I had my "concerns"......the bright thread and pattern of stitching (especially on the leather parts). Now after seeing details I just don't like them. When you handle enough originals, it becomes much easier to get an overall feel.

Aditional thoughts!
Just checked my 2 sets of pouches. Dark blue pouches with black inked MP38 u. 40 (no rule without exception), and green pouches with the same. Both pairs have WaA and maker code/year on the leather belt loops. My thought: Has anyone seen a genuine pair of MP40 pouches with the designation "MP 38 u. 40" stamped on the leather belt loop! I have seen plenty of fakes, but does the real deal exist with this type of marking?
