    Yes, that does sound a bit strange, how long ago did you treat your tires (how old were they, WW2)? Did you apply any olive oil to any of your militaria (especially rubber or leather items for helmets and gas mask) and when were they treated and the outcome?
    For now I'll just keep them untreated and hope for the best............... a miracle cure for our aging militaria.....

    Hi Rodney,

    I think it was about 2-3 years ago. The motorcycle was not from WW2 or
    something... But it really seemed to help. Over the years rubber gets dry,
    and while using it, it gets cracks. It's just like greasing an engine, it can't
    do without its oil, otherwise it would break. I've never used olive oil on a
    gasmask, but when I read this thread I thought I would mention it. But just
    like olive oil you can also use 'vaseline', the most importing thing is that
    the rubber does not crack any further, and that by greasing it.
