German Soldat Rucksack?

What were the types of personal backpacks used by german soldiers in W.W.II? Any one have pictures? TIA

Not sure what you mean by "personal". There were about 100 different styles of military rucksacks. Some with shoulder straps, some not, mountain versions which were large and had many pockets. Some "artillery" style with no front pockets etc.

Wasn't there a standard rucksack? The kind that say a Panzer Ia crew would have? In the early/mid thirties.As a matter of fact let me focus the request with laser like targeting... I am doing model of Panzer Ia with the interior detailed to the nth degree. Apparently the crew would have some personal gear stowed on the floor right behind the driver's position on the left. Now I have a photo of this pile of stuff but the knapsack is coverd up with all the other stuff and well I need to know what it looked like. Thanks.

I am affraid that in this period the only backpacks in use were "fury" ones - M34 and WW1 models... but I doubt that panzer crews carry those.. especially in tanks during training At last I have never seen a picture of fury backpacks with Tank crews

maybe breadbags... ???

So the things called baggage packs (a) is what I'm interested in. I think they look like bread bags but with the name baggage packs...? But the one on which the gun holster sits seems big...

Hi James,

I've been following your query around the various DG's and can now offer an answer.
Indeed what you see in "a" is a standard bread bag with water bottle and mess tin on top of a folded zeltbahn along with a P08 holster. A second so-called "baggage pack is stowed beneath the first.
