This cut have been a mint gasmask

Just got this complete gasmask and cannister today from a friend who works in junk yard,it was laying in a pile of garbage, sadly he did first see it after he had run over it with his truck, this cut have been a very nice item, sadly is the cannister totally destroyed, but the mask itself might be okay, everything cannister-straps are marked with the same name, the cannister is marked
on the spareglass box JOHN,A;G.1940 and WaA,and the name Körner 12.Sich.Floot,also bottom of the cannister has the name Körner written on,the carrying straps has a label sewn on Körner N.10129/41 T.
    Well **** Happens.
    Cheers

No D at the bottom of the Can,I'm thinkink of taking the cannister apart to see how the condition of the mask are.

                Jorn,
before you take it apart try first filling it with water, putting something heavy on top and put it in the deep freeze, the water will expand when it freeze's and should push out some of the dents, and you can keep doing this until most of the dints are out, its worth a try
                cheers,
                Gary

I am not sure if freezeing will not destroy a filter... and other mask parts.. ?!?

                        Pannel beater

Robbs Right take it to a pannel beater, they have all the tools, dollys and hammers.

With their skill and knolege they should be able to get most of those dings out

                        Mark

Another good idea, it looks though jorn that with a little effort you will be able to remove the mask, the filter might be a problem though, one thing now thinking about freezing it is the ribbing on the can, probably freezing it will push some of that out, but freezing is good for taking out dints in water bottles and other smooth items like shell cases providing you can seal or put something heavy on top of it to stop the ice from pushing out through the top, but you have to keep an eye on it otherwise you end up with a melon

Here is a few close up photos of the damage,I dont think the freeze trick will work on this one.the metal is quite thick and the cannister has the extra cylinder inside, and as you can see the cannister has some very bad folding, what I'm going to do,is that I'm going to wide it more open to get the mask out, just like women having baby's,I must admit I think the cannister are finish,
I will post more photos when the mask is born.
By the way, thanks for your and idears to saving it.
                            Cheers
