is this afrika korps item important?

dug this item out from storage and would like to know if anyone has info on it. was this the first big look at the DAK in print? many colour pics makes this item quite advanced for its time. great coordination with the desert-coloured cover too!
    thanks in advance.

more beauty, as requested. as made clear in the forward page below, these pics were the work of luft war correspondent teams, hence the abundance of luft uniformed troops pictured. (excuse me, is that...silver foil wrapping on that sandwich we see on the table? 'was there' silver foil used for food wrapping...during the war then? i'm amazed at the decadence if so.)

...and this. 160 pages, no map at the back. in all, good condition. on balance a unique fine period tome, celebrating one of the most sensational arms of service, in one of the most exotic campaigns of the time.

perhaps this was a way of helping folk keep their minds from the shell shock of the catastrophic eastern losses....a little sunshine for the people's grey times.

This book is a classic. I love the picture with the tank rolling by the camel and the Ju88 crew by the plane. It has been reprinted in the past few years in Europe but of course yours is an original edition. They used to fetch quite a lot of $$ when Ebay first came about but now the price has come down quite a bit. Still a great book with amazing color photos.
