    Prinz Eugen KM lantern????

    Hi folks,

I usually dont mess around with odd items but I got a call today and I need some help.

I ran an ad a few months ago and this fellow called me up finally. Per his story he has 2 Kreigsmarine Lanterns (Candle) type that came off the Prinz Eugen.

His father was the head of Ordinance in Philly where the PE was after the war. He made friends with the Gunnery officer USN and when the left the Officer gave the father 2 lanterns.

Though I have not seen them yet he says the only markings on it are the KM eagle. Which of course means it could have come from any ship??

Anyway, does anyone have a picture of a KM lantern that would be like I said above. He does want to sell them but I think he is WAY too high since there is NO way to link it to the Prinz...E.

Thanks for any help. Im going to see and possibly buy the pair but he will have to be very reasonable. Either way Ill take pictures of them and post them.

Thanks for any pics that Ill need on my quest.

I have.....but this type of lanterns are unse in many boats. You cannot say from what typ of boat it is. In my case the lanternes a from a smaller boat.

The only way to prove they are from the Eugen is documentation ,documentation, documentation..... Either with photos of his father or the officer with them on board, or sometype of written paperwork for their removal as captured items.

Otherwise they're just a pair of KM lanterns.

Very nice lanterns but not military...The red one is for the right side and the green one for the left side of the boat (in french tribord and babord) for all kind of boat

Yes, Im going over to see these "lanterns" on SUN but I think the 71 year old seller thinks they are worth thier weight in GOLD since its has a "cool story" but like you said... they are just a pair of lanterns...

Ill take some pics but in case he will take a realistic offer..

what ballpark price is realistic for just a standard KM lantern?
