    Gaiters...what do you think?

hi everyone. would you view and comment on these puppies...a blue colour...and dated 43.

what would these be worth on the market today? thanks in advance...(found in cologne)...NOTE grey leather trim...luft breadbag on estand has drawn comments about grey leather trim, in a negative way. perhaps a learning curve here, that Luft canvas items indeed had grey leather trim...while the straps here are black. i find this interesting if true.

Must be my computer, the leather trim and buckles look green to me. I have never seen any that looked just like those but I haven't seen everything. I have seen originals with leather trim like that in black.

the grey painted buckles are the same colour as the grey leather trim, as hopefully shown here...grey colour, typical of hardware, eg y-strap d-rings, hooks..etc...

hope these pics are more helpful/interesting. grey? or blue...id go for grey as it looks just like typical army grey hardware colour as said...but i may be wrong.

very grateful for comments from you, gentlemen! from my perspective these represent the second type gaiters...first type had hooks to go in the laces and hold them fast, leather trim both sides and a straighter shape to the canvas edges...the later ones had no leather outer trim, only inner panels. in the main based on forum members' kind comments, i would then place these as second pattern luftwaffe gaiters, for ground crew, feld divisions, etc.

                      ?

                      Early gaiters with 1943 stamp?

How common was green paint and black thread on wartime LW things? Cause if it was in Heer colour, I would definately call it post war...

interesting view...nice to have debate here!
43 for me seems right for mid gaiter model. gaiters rightly described as early, for me, are hooked ones.
paint i feel is ordinance grey, rather than green...like mint y-strap d rings colour. black thread i have seen on army late pattern gaiters too. what can others say here...?

I've seen plenty of original Heer Gamaschen with black thread. These look good to me.

dont you just love those hooked gaiters?! great illustration of mixed thread use there.
imo the thread question is interesting. the black dye on this black thread, on closer inspection, often appears to have fade potential. what i mean is this black thread isnt fast dyed to the core thread, rather dyed in a way that wont take huge amounts of drenching. i feel aging and wear will often make this initially black thread 'colourless' or whatever shade you care to call the non black thread. we know non black thread existed, of course, and we are seeing black was used...i only want to venture this black thread when worn shows much the same effect as uncoloured thread.
on a separate note, DOES ANYONE KNOW WHERE ONE CAN OBTAIN THREAD, NON SYNTHETIC THREAD, for repairs, etc to original kit? i had heard us civil war groups use something similar... has anyone any leads on this issue?
many thanks in advance for contributions to this gaiter thread.
