I think it are army boots converted for civilian use.
I'm collecting anything related to the towns Castricum and Bakkum during WWII.
Also soldbucher from 116pzdiv. And 1944-1945 eastfront pockets, kampfgruppe and Oder front.

                        Hello there,

They look like WW11 pattern boots, but they could quite easily have had their soles replaced pre '45.

Having wooden soles would improve insulation in cold climates, plus the hobnails look WH pattern.

That's not to say the modification is post '45, I doubt there is anyway of knowing either way for sure.

I seem to remember WW1 boots have a seam running up either side of the shaft of the boot, correct me if I am wrong.

                        Cheers,

                        Mark.

Those boots were worn until the soles literally fell apart. They have been separated from the original soles at the welt. The uppers were then nailed to the hand carved wood soles that are on there now. This was most likely done post war by the owner of the boots. No self respecting cobbler would have done that job. Bear in mind it was likely done at a time when leather supplies were nearly non existent, i.e. just after the war. Those boots are no longer waterproof and would be very uncomfortable to wear.
