    Late war military lantarn?

    Hello,
I just bought this lantarn. The seller said it was a civilian type, but I don't believe that. To me it seems to be a late war copy of the early war bakelite lantarns. Also the colour seems typical for late war items and the cover at the front ( to hide the light) is identical to the ones on the bakelite lantarns.
(The condition is better as it looks)

Can someone tell me if I'm right and if it's indeed a late war lantarn? Can someone also tell me more about this type? When was it introduced etc.? I see the bakelite ones quiet often, but this is the first one of this type that I've seen.

    Thanks!

    Frank

The military ones are usually WaAmt and dated on the metal piece on the back. Does it have any markings?

The ordnance tan color is the same as one would see external and the brick red internal is similar to military equipment.

          Hi,

seems like a wehrmacht pre45 one,
the "dark yellow" ist typical, the base coat is correct,
it can have WaA but does not need to

actually I saw more of this type than bakelitt ones

          beautiful piece!

Perhaps I can sent you bakelite lantarns, when you sent me this type metal lantarns

It does appear to be a military lantern, I would be happy to own either this type or the bakelite type.

I've decided to keep them for my own house decoration. I like the idea.

I took a closer look at the lantarn, and it's indeed marked. At the bottom and at the 3 metal inserts it is marked nkv ( = Assmann-Werke, Assmann & Weikert) There are no other markings.

It's really nice to see how it still looks a lot like the early war, bakelite model.

                      Einheitslaterne 37 and Einheitslaterne 42

                      Hello,
I found out that they are the "Einheitslaterne 37" and "Einheitslaterne 42".

A lot of info can be found on this great site.(unfortunate in french)

I only had 1 last question. I noticed that the right metal plate to cover the glass, has some special bracket on it. Does anyone know what the purpose is of that part?

                      Thanks!

Years I thought more about days.

Do you know where the bracket at the side was ment for? See previous post.
