mp40/98k sling? Original?

I just picked up this sling and was wondering if it is original. It came with a stud for mounting to an mp40 and it looks like it had two holes added to the sling, at least one for sure. It is 46 inches long. It looks and feels old, no smell of leather. These are not my thing so any help would be appreciated. One member had said that he heard they were made post war with this stamp. Thanks

This is unfortunately a post-war leather strap , to which someone added a relic metal buckle .
