    I found this one supposed to be WW2.

                  Very nice... and a bit nasty Just yesterday my grand-uncle was telling me, how near the end of the war, as the Germans were retreating from the Balkans, right before getting in to the cars, one officer passed near him, saw the medical shoulder boards devices /he was a doctor and drafted to the army during the war/ and handled to him a suitcase. The uncle found it was a wonderful, fantastic box of instruments - something like this one. Later it was gone with the winds.

                    The original period owner of this box was a real bone cutter! and some Catgut is still present in the rounded box

                        This surgeon was surely specialized in bone cutting, hope he was using anesthaesia!
