Nice examplary ! But as you're saying you "finally found one of these", does it means that the early M.30 gasmask cans are really scarce, or was you speaking about the blue color of this one ?

I'd bet he means the blue ones, Chris. They are not that easy to come by in the states. Green are a dime a dozen (well figuratively). Blue cans are much rarer.

ive never seen a blue can before, is the blue unique to a certain branch or was it just a matter of paint that was available?

Hi Gents,
Blue is Luft and hard to come by, expensive too. I've seen many go for $300.00 and more. This one you'll notice even has a blue filter on the mask, the can is dated 1936.

It looked pretty early. The latch on the can seems to be the early type. Is the can also dated around '36?

Hi Jack,
The can is dated 1936, so are the lenses in the mask. The can did its job well all of the straps on the mask including the leather seal around the inside are in perfect condition. Its marked size 2 on the inside in ink and a previous owner has scratched his name Vecind into the inside cover of the can. Other than the dated lenses I haven't found a date on the mask, I'm still looking

To find the date in the mask, try folding back the rubber seal on the inside (the part that makes contact with the skin)... I found a number of stamps on mine there.
