Gasmask Canister Belt Support Hook Strap

    Hello
My friend give's me a gasmask canister belt support hook strap, and i need your opinion. Is it a post-war, or pre-war? Wehrmacht can use it?
    Thanks

Ill comment on this piece and see if Im right or Im sticking my foot in my mouth. the strap itself looks fine to me as being period made. I feel the stud is post war but what puzzles me is the paint seems to match the hook perfectly and the hook looks to be originally sewn to the strap. so unless the stud is a period made piece then I am totally wrong and the whole thing is post war made. I guess if I had to make a final call it would be all good but with a post war stud that somehow has the same shade as the original. Glenn

also now looking at the hook, it does not have the typical ridge running down the back center either. Im far from a detail gas mask collector so perhaps this maker stamped out their hooks like that. hell, Im sticking with my first post. Ive been wrong before so I have no shame here. atleast I got the ball rolling on this one for you. Glenn

I take it no one has any issues with the shape of the stud? Glenn

              Hello Glenn,
it is shaped like an early stud...it is different from later prewar, wartime or postwar ones.

thanks for the comparison Ian. now I know what the early, early styles look like. not to confuse with the later prewar, wartime or post war versions of studs. Glenn

                        Hello again Glenn,
a little bit confusing i guess but it's only a matter of shape and metal used for the stud. This one has a particular shape, more rounded on the obverse and with a little rim on the edge of the reverse (not generalized), and it is made of brass...early,
the shape of the other ones are slightly different and the metal used as well : aluminium for the later prewar, and steel for wartime and postwar ones. plus, postwar ones are also a bit different in shape...roughly it is the same thing for the hook...hope it helps....
