German,U.S???

Could someone tell me if this piece of equipment is german or U.S? or neither of both?

Well, it sure doesnt look like any US made article, with the ball on the end of the handle and the straps down the sides of the head. Handle looks German. Could be a german firemans axe. A spiked axe was part of the infaantrymans equipment, carried instead of a shovel, but they look different from this example.

I think it comes from a vehicel of some sort, because it is rather big.

I don't recognize the stamp as German or U.S. Maybe another country.
