Ouestion on officers Boots

I was offered these boots. The person that has them that they were late war officers boots. The heel has the older rubber heel marked standard 170?
Any help would be great! Paul

The boots look to be a perfect example of a style of WWII era officer boots that years ago were often called "Luftwaffe" type by collectors but seem to be maybe even more worn by W-SS and many Heer officers. I see these type boots in a lot of photos both in the front lines and in rear area/home station type settings.

I can not speak for when the heel pads were applied. Boot re-soles were a standard part of clothing maintenance. Most of these that I have owned have Contennital or "dk" brand heels and I think they were (are) also 170 if I remember...I have no idea what these numbers mean.

IMO these boots are fine.

Very hard to say..
They continued this type postwar IMO.., I've seen many Bundeswehr pairs of this type also.
Just like the shorter type with buckle which they still try to sell as wartime flightboots.
Are there any marking inside the soles or something ?

Inside there is what appears to be someones initials written in ink. I have also seen these boots in some period photos, but the images were not always clear. I have heard of the term Luftwaffen flight boots, but I thought is was refered to the short style boots. These boots are really great shape. Thanks for your help on these. Paul

For what it is worth I just checked 2 pairs of this style of boots that I have owned for over 30 years. They are different sizes and makes. One pair I got from the SS Cpt. in the GvB who wore them in the war.

Both pair have heel pads marked "172" and made by different makers. Both heel pads are made of a dark/medium brownish hard rubber material and have been on the boots "for ever".

I have also seen the black rubber material that your boots appear to have marked "DRP" so I assume that it was also around during the 3rd Reich. I think that I also recall the name "Standard" being used on 3rd Reich era boots before....but I can not say for sure.
