    Mounted "Y" strap...blue thread????

Greetings: I have a pair of mounted Y straps that have been repaired. I believe they were period field repaired due to the same wear on both front straps. The other indication they are period repaired is the adjustment holes are left out the replacement end with only the last hole punched. It seems to me that was the size adjutment of the previos strap according to the one that is intact, and time was not wasted punching in the others......but BLUE THREAD???? Has anyone else come across anything with blue thread repairs or similar? Thank you to all comments and opinions.
    Regards

    obverse ends

Here is the blue thread that was used for repair. It is quite noticeable that the last adjustment hole was the one used for wearing as the wear pattern is the same on both. Also the hole in the replacement strap is not punched clean which leads me to belive it was period field repaired. Would that make sense??

              My first thoughts also

Greetings Michael: I thought that at first , but when you look at the wear pattern on the obverse and reverse of the front straps, it's obviously been used. You would think if a collector or reenactor was reparing it he would try to copy the original one or at least used similar colored thread. Also the holes are so crudely punched. That's why I wanted other opinions.Thank you for your comment, it's much appreciated.
              Best Regards

Greetings Kevin: Thanks for the reply and your opinion. I've had these for about 15 years and they don't come with any exotic story. Believe it or not I found them in a second hand book store along with a few other pieces of equipment. The owner was an older gentleman who sold the whole lot to me for around $100.00 I think( a belt , a water police dagger scabbard, a checker board with swastikas on the tokens and the straps if my memory serves me correctly) That's about it, but like you I do like them and as I mentioned am curious if there are other "frankenstein" repairs that are similar or questionable to explain.
                  Regards

I have a spool of heavy blue thread similar to this thats Luftwaffe marked. If I can find it, I will take a photo for you. I believe it is a period repair. I have seen too many things "Jerry Rigged" to think a collector would have done this. If I were going to repair stitching, I would use something as close to the original as possible.
