    Luft Argus Nameplate

Ok, got a strange one here....a buddy of mine picked up a grouping from the son of a 6th Armor Vet, nothing really great, a decent 42 crs matching bayonet, a large group of pics (some really neat ones), some tinnies and RAD badges, some nick nack type stuff, some US Insignia, etc....anyway in the cigar box with the tinnies and misc, I found this....

    http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3283/...d9189fae_o.jpg

It is aluminum, about 2 3/8" in diameter. There are three holes in the perimeter, where I am guessing it was held by three rivets or screws...the Argus design is raised, and the background is painted with field grey paint....

Now in the photos were a bunch of pics of guys standing on/in a bunch of aircraft hulks, mainly He-111's. I am guessing this is a nameplate from either an Argus engine, or maybe off of a control yoke...did Argus make other thing than engines? Anyone have any idea what this is, or off of? I know Argus manufactured various engines, used IIRC on the Storch and the FW-189 (?) recon plane, etc....there also was a manufacturer or they manufactured cameras too, but the symbol leads me to believe this is aircraft related.

I wasn't sure where to post this, but I figure this forum would be a likely place, hopefully some Luft aircraft buffs can help me out on this one. I gave him $10 for it, figured I'd take the chance....

    Thanks guys!

Most likely, just off an engine.

    Regards,
    Mike
