    To have paint on the hooks does not mean fake . Some camo gasmask were spray painted , other brushed , some were painted with their straps on and some without their straps on. What it means on this one however , is the lack of paint loss there is indeed suspicious and a closer look is in order ( the use with the straps would have removed that paint ).
    The paint looks good , it seems to have that pinkish hue to it , but I am very suspicious about all that "flaking " you can see in the paint . The fact that I see what appears to be pitting , covered by the paint , I will say Post-war job IMO.

      My point exactly. If this item ever had straps attached to it, the paint on the strap attachment loops' interior would be completely worn off. There is a lot of wear to the high ponts, but nothing consistant with field-use.
