Looks good from what I've read. Lacking the post-war "HV" and perhaps dubious "GR137" stamps...

That is an unquestionable wartime produce of STUBAI. Only a WaA stamp could prove that more.

John, I wouldn't say, that a GJR 137 stamp can be dubious, because these items are WW2 Gebirgsjaeger items anyhow.

Pls note the presence of HV, WaA, and GJR 137 stamps on my Pithon hammer.

Looks like a nice wartime marked STUBAI ice axe....more than likely a civilian model, but it is the same as the ones issued to Gebirgsjägers. These were also issued to the Swiss Army during WWII and can be found with Swiss markings.

Let me clarify. I am certainly no expert on these but since I was looking for one I've read all I could find. Some picks were stamped "GR 137" during the war and some had the stamp added after the war. How to tell the difference? I don't know.

The marking on yours reads:

Ges.Gesch.

Peter Aschenbrenner was a famous mountaineer before and after the war. During the war, he served as a Heeresbergführer with the Gebirgsjägers.

What are you basing this information on? Do you have some reference material stating this type of green webbing or several examples to show? I am very interested is seeing this.

I found this ice pick in a forum search, the strap is identical to one shown in the pictures that I listed .

It would appear that the ice pick I found for sale ,is a commercial model which lacks the acceptance stamp

Here is my ww2 one,in used condition,no HV , Waa stamp,green webbing etc....
The two came both from the same source.
