What was this little bag for ???

Hi everybody,

does anyone what this bag was for ???
It came along with lot´s of other WW2 german items - but
in this case I don´t even know if it´s german WW2 or not.

Any help is highly appreciated.

It is a bag for storing a gas cape and would have been attached to the straps of a gas mask cannister.
